17's Win Colchester Cup
Written by Adam Silver
Monday, 12 May 2008

After a fantastic display the U17 secured the Cup with a 3-0 win making it a treble for the  season, adding to the pre-season Trinity trophy they also won making it a 4 trophy haul.

Redbridge started brightly with Reid and Wilson having early shots, but the Games first real save was produced by Rock who managed to stick out a foot on the Colchester goal bound effort, with the game going from end to end and half chances being missed it took a mistake by the Colchester Keeper who misjudged a catch it fell to the Feet of Reid who dispatched it with aplomb into the empty net, with the score at H-T 1-0 and a hotly disputed Pen (home decision) turned down

Redbridge came out all guns Blazing, and were creating many chances but could not find the final ball or were looking for personal glory rather than playing in a team mate, then after 65 mins with some neat play down the right Doukanaris burst into the box and from a tight angle blasted the ball top corner, with the back four looking very composed it looked game over and indeed 5 mins later it was when Wilson played in Downes who unselfishly Squared it for Reid to tap in,by now the midfield were totally dominant and creating chances for fun but unfortunately no more were taken and 3-0 it finished.

Andy and I would like to pay tribute to a great set of Lads who have trained and performed Admirably throughout and have produced a fantastic season, to them all, we wish you luck with your careers and to the Parents who have supported not only the side but also our views which Sometimes you may or may not have agreed with.

Penalty Shoot Out Heartache for Motormen
Written by Adam Silver
Saturday, 03 May 2008

Redbridge lost the Play Off Final after losing 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shoot out  which saw Tony Tucker save the final Canvey Island penalty only for the referee to award a retake after the Redbridge goalkeeper was adjuged to of moved before the whistle was taken.     120 minutes of football could not seperate the two sides after Leon Antoine gave the home side a 1-0 half time lead only for Canvey to hit back through Colin Wall with 9 minutes remaining.    Canvey went into extra time with 10 men after goalscorer Wall was sent off for picking up 2 yellow cards but it will be them going into the Ryman Premier League next season along with Dartford.
